History of Word of Life Church

Word of Life Church is a bilingual Russian/ English church with a slavic heritage that was founded in 2001. Many of the families immigrated from former Soviet Union and are first or second generation Americans. Thus, Word of Life Church possessed a unique heritage and service style.

Word of Life Church was founded in the fall of 2001 by Pastor Sergei Korelov who remained until 2009. Pastor Kelly Allen pastored after him until 2010.
In 2011, Pastor Peter joined us from Delta Junction. His family had recently moved there from Seattle, Washington, where Pastor Peter was the Senior Pastor of Harvest. When we heard of him, we asked if he could come and serve. He would commute every Sunday (a 6 hour drive!) until he made the permanent move to Wasilla. Since then, he and his wife, Lesya, have faithfully led Word of Life Church. In January 2021 they were met with the tragic loss of their son, Timmy. Through it all, we have seen as they have continued being faithful leaders in loving Jesus.

Since our humble beginning, we have grown and in February 2021 we moved into our new building. We are so thankful to all the people and ministers that have sacrificed their time and efforts to make this happen.

Today the church is actively involved in missionary services in Alaska and other countries around the world. Word of Life Church actively sponsors those on missions and occasionally organizes short term mission trips. For those looking to get involved at WOL, there are various ministries to get involved in such as: worship ministry, youth ministry, men's breakfast, women's prayer, and children's Sunday school.
